In this episode of Beam Radio, I discussed the recent Nerves conference, NervesConf 2024, with host Lars Wikman and Jon Carstens from the Nerves core team. I shared my experiences from almost a decade of working with Nerves, highlighting how it has evolved and how my company, Redwire Labs, helps businesses develop IoT products using Nerves. We also talked about the growing interest in companies using Elixir across the stack for IoT. It was exciting to see how the community is expanding, with more people integrating Nerves into their commercial and industrial projects, which shows the platform’s maturity and versatility.
At NervesConf, the emphasis was on practical, real-world applications of Nerves in production environments. Many attendees were professionals working with Nerves in their jobs, which led to deep, technical discussions about the challenges and successes in deploying Nerves in various industries. This year’s conference was particularly notable for the high level of engagement and the diversity of projects being showcased, ranging from energy management systems to autonomous vehicles. The conversations at NervesConf reinforced the idea that Elixir and Nerves are becoming critical tools in the IoT space, offering robust solutions for development and production.
